Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All in Label Battle with Jay-Z & Diddy
There’s a wild bunch in the Hip Hop game right now by the name of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. If SoJones had to describe their music in a short string of words, we’d say it sounds like music the Devil wakes up to do yoga to. And what Jay-Z, Diddy, and Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine see is nothing but dollar signs, as they and a couple other music moguls are scrambling to sign the 10 man band. It’s been reported that band member Tyler The Creator met with Diddy and demanded to meet Justin Bieber. Diddy being the music mogul he is, is of course pulling what’s left of his hair out to prove he’s on to something with this band, but you can figure that out for yourself by just looking at their cult following! The band reminds me of this all white Hip Hop collective I used to listen to in High School called Anticon out of Oakland. All they rapped about was socialism, being poor, and weird conceptual story lines. Tyler the Creator also states that his only competition is Kanye West, though he’s a huge Kanye West fan. We don’t see any competition for Tyler, as long as he can keep up the unique music he’s putting out at the moment. The band has performed at the SXSW music festival and is quickly becoming the most sought after band in rap! When Steve Rifkind of SRC wanted to meet with Tyler, he told him-
“If you are serious about the meeting, I want Randy’s Donuts, swivel chairs, and a megaphone.”
